What is ORB Sleep?

ORB Sleep helps patients manage bruxism and sleep apnea through a connected dental device that provides insights into sleep behaviour, encouraging better sleep hygiene.

My Role

I led the design process from discovery to delivery, conducting user research, running weekly critiques, maintaining a design system, and ensuring the final UI was polished and production-ready.

Deadlines & Unanswered Questions

We had just 11 months from production to launch, with several important questions still unanswered.

Laying The Groundwork

To kick things off, I met with stakeholders to clarify: Why are we building this app? Who is it for? What should it do? Before exploring concepts, I needed to understand our user, the key features, and whether we could reuse tech from earlier products. I gathered this input through conversations and early research.

Discovering What Matters

We had two user groups: dentists (B2B) and consumers (B2C). I spoke with both and uncovered key differences:

  • Dentists care about long-term trends and teeth grinding frequency.

  • Consumers prefer daily sleep stats and snoring-related features like audio recordings and body/head position tracking.

These insights shaped the concepts I later shared with stakeholders, grounded in both user feedback and competitive benchmarking.(see below)
